Living Liturgically: Following the Orthodox Church Calendar
😅 Feeling overwhelmed by the Church calendar? You’re not alone. Liturgical living can feel like trying to drink from a firehose 🚿—especially when you’re new to Orthodoxy.
But what if we slowed down and embraced it one step at a time? 🕊️✨ In this video, I’m sharing how we’ve begun weaving the rhythm of the Church into our home life—and how you can too, without burnout or guilt.
Here’s a peek at one of our new family traditions:
🎉 A simple, meaningful feast day meal for St. Marina—complete with “🔥 Super Fast Dragon Noodles” (yes, really!) 🍜🐉
As we ate, we read her life and talked about how she crushed the devil (aka the dragon) with the power of the Cross. 🩸✝️🛡️
Scroll down for the recipe + some encouragement on sustainable liturgical living. Let’s bring the Church home, one beautiful day at a time. 🏡🕯️
Super Fast Dragon Noodles for the feast of St Marina
1 Package of Squiggly Knife cut noodles from Trader Joes
1 Package of stir fry vegetables
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 garlic clove (crushed) or 1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp crushed ginger or 1 tsp ginger powder
Top of sesame seeds or green onions
Cook noodles according to package directions. In a bowl, mix the provided sauce packets, along with 1 TBSP brown sugar, 1 crushed garlic clove, and 1 tsp ginger. Mix well. Saute vegetables in 1 tbsp oil, until soft and slightly browned. Add cooked noodles to the sautéed vegetables and add sauce to the top. With low heat, mix the vegetables, noodles, and sauce until well incorporated. Serve immediately and add sesame seeds and green onions to garnish.
This recipe came together in 10 mins, and as we ate, we read the life of St Marina, and discussed how she overcame the temptations of the devil (traditionally portrayed as a dragon) and defeated him with the cross.
