Why Faith Is America’s Only Hope | Tucker Carlson

The lantern procession tradition on St. Martin's Day, celebrated on November 12, is a cherished tradition honoring St. Martin of Tours (397 AD).

In Germany, children make lanterns and parade through the streets, singing songs. The lanterns shining in the dark are often interpreted as symbolizing the light of Christ, a particularly appropriate image for the beginning of the Nativity Fast (November 15th). St Martin is a beloved Saint celebrated throughout the world and is known for his merciful compassion on the needy. St. Martin's Day is celebrated on November 12th in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Digital Audio - A broad introduction to Orthodox Christianity designed to expose the catechumen to the contours of Orthodox faith and life, aid priests in preparing catechumens to be received into the Church as well as edify Orthodox individuals seeking a better understanding of their faith.
For those seeking to become Orthodox, Catechism is a process of full-orbed Christian formation in which the Orthodox Christian life is inculcated in the learner through participation in divine services, prayer, study, community assimilation, and practice. At the heart of the catechetical process are the catechetical lectures delivered to the catechumens by the priest or the catechist. It is toward this goal of providing a usable introduction to Holy Orthodoxy that the sixteen lectures entitled An Orthodox Catechism have been developed by Father Josiah. This series has been utilized by Father Josiah in parish practice over the course of almost two decades to prepare more than 400 catechumens for reception into the Orthodox Church.
Not having an official Orthodox Catechism in the English language, many parishes and pastors scramble to put together a basic catechism that will adequately expose the inquirer and catechumen to the contours of Orthodox faith and life. It is hoped that this series will aid priests and parishes in preparing catechumens to be received into the Church, as well as edify Orthodox individuals seeking a better understanding of their faith.
These sixteen lectures are presented to catechumens in two parts. Part One: God, Man, Church is traditionally delivered over the eight weeks leading to the Feast of the Nativity of Christ. Part Two: The Holy Mysteries is delivered over the eight weeks leading up to Pasha, when catechumens are being prepared for reception into the Church on Great and Holy Saturday.

The Beatitudes, or the blessings, pronounced by our Lord Jesus Christ upon His faithful followers constitute the opening salvo in our Savior’s most famous teaching, The Sermon on the Mount. In this series each beatitude is unveiled revealing the universal character of an authentic Christian. Those who inculcate these sacred dispositions manifest the face of Jesus Christ to the world. By incarnating the qualities of Jesus Christ our Savior, that is, poverty of spirit, mourning, gentleness, hunger and thirst for righteousness, mercy, purity of heart, peacemaking, and the joyful acceptance of persecution - believers become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

The Beatitudes

The Holy Fathers teach us that the Bible is the most important reading any Christian can and must do. In fact, St. John Chrysostom writes that our ignorance of the Holy Scriptures is the great cause of our sorrows in life. "Get...the New Testament, the Apostolic Epistles, the Acts, the Gospels, for your constant teachers. If grief befalls you, dive into them as into a chest of medicines...take them completely into yourself; keep them in your mind. This is the cause of all evils, our ignorance of Holy Scripture. We go into battle without weapons, and how are we to come off safe?" (Hom. 9, Commentary on Colossians). PNP is pleased to offer numerous edifying expositions of the sacred books of both the Old and New Testaments all designed to nourish the souls of the spiritually thirsty, to communicate grace, and to enlighten the minds and hearts of believers.

Scripture

St. John of Sinai in his Ladder of Divine Ascent writes that the lives of the Saints arouse us to emulation of their courage, and lead us to the virtue of humility and compunction. Contemporary Saints are particularly important since they acquired their love for God and holiness in the midst of our current milieu, and demonstrate that spiritual acquisition is possible even in our own troubled times.

Catechism

PNP is pleased to present a new six-lecture series by Father Josiah Trenham entitled Demonology: Understanding and Winning the Spiritual Battle. The study of the Church’s demonology is a part of basic catechism and Christian instruction. The Scriptures are replete with teaching on the dark powers. Additionally, it is impossible to appreciate the magnitude of the saving deeds of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, without understanding how He, and He alone, has conquered Satan and destroyed his works. Lastly, Christians are called to fight and win in the spiritual war, and for this reason, it is essential that believers understand their enemies and their tactics. Toward this end, Father Josiah presents in these lectures in-depth studies of the Scriptures, Divine Services, and pedagogy of great saints and teachers on the subject of Satan and spiritual battle.
Lecture titles include:
Lecture #1 Jesus and Satan
Lecture #2 Demonology in the Baptismal Rite and the Divine Liturgy
Lecture #3 Gaining Mastery of Satan: The Life of St. Anthony the Great
Lecture #4 How to Win the Spiritual Battle according to St. John of the Ladder
Lecture #5 Engaging the Unseen Warfare: Fr. Lorenzo Scupoli and St. Nicodemos of the Holy Mountain

Patristic Nectar Publications is pleased to present an eleven-lecture series by the late Father Thomas Hopko entitled The Holy Trinity. Father Hopko served the Orthodox Church in America as a pastor, and many more years as a Professor of Dogmatic Theology, and then as Dean of St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary. He is revered for his zealous and forthright preaching and has exercised a wide influence over the Orthodox Church in the United States and abroad through his seminary teaching and innumerable parish retreats, his lectures on Ancient Faith Radio, and his many books and publications. These lectures were delivered in February of 2001 to the clergy of the Western Region (eventually the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West) of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. In these lectures, Father Hopko opens to all the dogmatic teachings of the Orthodox Church on One God, His Only-Begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Here Fr. Thomas shares how Christian life is a sharing in the Divine Life itself, and much more. This March 18th, 2024 will be the 9th anniversary of Father Hopko's repose. May his memory be eternal.

Patristic Nectar Publications is pleased to present this new pre-marital counseling theological audiobook entitled Enduring Love: Laying Christian Foundations for Marriage.
Marriage preparation, together with the sacred institution of marriage itself, has fallen on hard times in the culture of the post-Christian West. It is more important than ever for couples to saturate their hearts and minds with the glorious vision of holy matrimony presented by the Church in Holy Tradition and lived by countless married saints for the last two thousand years.
Here in Enduring Love, couples will find inspired teaching from the Holy Scriptures, the writings of the Holy Fathers, and the service texts of the sacrament itself, on how to live in a genuinely Christian marriage in which the home becomes a domestic church. Each of the ten chapters contains both a succinct theological teaching and a workbook section with questions for the couple to work through together in preparation for marriage.
Through Enduring Love may God inspire the hearts of those preparing to be married, and also those already married who would like to deepen their union and render it more pleasing to God and to themselves.

Enduring Love: Laying the Christian Foundations for Marriage

A close examination of the therapeutic nature of the Church as a spiritual hospital providing a means for acquiring divine power and grace for the healing of diseases of soul and body. Topics include: Jesus Christ as Healer; sin as a disease; the Church as a spiritual hospital; the Spiritual Father as a physician of the soul; and the diagnosis and recommended treatment plan for six common spiritual pathologies - self-love, anger, gluttony, despondency, avarice, and pride. In this series Holy Orthodoxy is revealed for what it is at its heart: a means for acquiring divine power and grace for the healing of our diseases of soul and body, and not a barren ideology.

Healing Our Diseases: The Church as a Spiritual Hospital

Bishop Irenei addresses common misunderstandings about the authority of Scripture, the Ecumenical Councils, and the Orthodox rejection of papal infallibility. He explains how the Church understands the inerrancy of the Bible, the role of the Councils, and why true authority is always found within the living life of the Church.

What if the ordinary work of motherhood is one of the places where God is teaching us how to become more like Him?

St. Olga of Alaska was a Yup’ik mother of 13, a matushka, midwife, and quiet servant of her community. Through the hidden work of caring for her family and compassionately serving others, she became a beautiful example of holiness in ordinary life.

In this video, we look at St. Olga’s life and what her example can teach us as mothers about sacrifice, service, suffering, and drawing closer to Christ through the everyday work of motherhood.

St. Olga of Alaska, pray for us!
