PNP is pleased to present a new six-lecture series by Father Josiah Trenham entitled Demonology: Understanding and Winning the Spiritual Battle. The study of the Church&rsquo;s demonology is a part of basic catechism and Christian instruction. The Scriptures are replete with teaching on the dark powers. Additionally, it is impossible to appreciate the magnitude of the saving deeds of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, without understanding how He, and He alone, has conquered Satan and destroyed his works. Lastly, Christians are called to fight and win in the spiritual war, and for this reason, it is essential that believers understand their enemies and their tactics. Toward this end, Father Josiah presents in these lectures in-depth studies of the Scriptures, Divine Services, and pedagogy of great saints and teachers on the subject of Satan and spiritual battle.&nbsp;
Lecture titles include:&nbsp;
Lecture #1 Jesus and Satan&nbsp;
Lecture #2 Demonology in the Baptismal Rite and the Divine Liturgy&nbsp;
Lecture #3 Gaining Mastery of Satan: The Life of St. Anthony the Great&nbsp;
Lecture #4 How to Win the Spiritual Battle according to St. John of the Ladder&nbsp;
Lecture #5 Engaging the Unseen Warfare: Fr. Lorenzo Scupoli and St. Nicodemos of the Holy Mountain&nbsp;
Lecture #6 C. S. Lewis&rsquo; Screwtape Letters and Demonic Warfare in the 21st Century Falling West&nbsp;

Interview | Jonathan Jackson On The Cost of Faith in Hollywood and His Journey to Orthodoxy

Fr. Josiah exposits the Book of Revelation verse by verse in order to give the reader insight into both the original meaning of the text to its 1st century audience and a practical application of its message to the Church today. The Revelation of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian completes the New Testament Canon. It is both an end and a beginning, as it unveils to the Church both the cataclysmic conclusion of this falling age, and the ushering in of the New Heavens and New Earth where righteousness dwells forever. The Revelation, or the Apocalypse, as it is traditionally known, is a unique genre of literature among the 27 books of the New Testament known as "apocalyptic." In 22 sacred chapters St. John reveals the zeal of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ to maintain the purity of His Church, and to lead Her victoriously into His eternal Kingdom. Under numerous symbols and images, as well as dramatic and confrontational historical depictions, the nature of the war in heaven and on earth is revealed between the Church of Jesus Christ and Her enemies: the dragon, the beast, the false prophet, the harlot and those in alliance with evil. The message of the Lord to His much-suffering Church of the 1st century and today is this: Be faithful to the end, for the Lord is coming quickly to reward those who hold fast to His Name.

Patristic Nectar is pleased to announce a new 9-lecture series by Father Josiah entitled God&rsquo;s Gift to the West: The Life and Teaching of St. Nikolai Velimirovich. St. Nikolai- the New Serbian Chrysostom &ndash; has won the hearts of the entire Orthodox Christian world. This godly bishop was not only a great shepherd of his much-suffering Serbian people, but a Spirit-illumined theologian who spoke the word of truth into the very heart of the darkness of the 20th century. Earning doctorates in his youth in both Berne, Switzerland and Oxford, England, he went on to live through World War I and World War II, traveling throughout Europe and America lifting up his voice and prayer, and setting forth the truth in Christ for the falling West in more than 30 books and innumerable sermons and lectures in innumerable venues in churches, universities, and parliaments before falling asleep in the Lord at St. Tikhon Seminary here in America in 1956.
Lecture titles are as follows: Lecture #1 An Overview of the Life of St. Nikolai
Lecture #2 The Prologue from Ochrid and 100 Meditations on Love
Lecture #3 The Missionary Letters
Lecture #4 War
Lecture #5 The Life of St. Sava and his Nationalism
Lecture #6 Ecumenism: Good and Bad
Lecture #7 The Orthodox Catechism
Lecture #8 Prayers by the Lake
Lecture #9 The Miracle of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ

God's Gift To The West: The Life and Teachings of St. Nikolai Velimirovich

A close examination of the therapeutic nature of the Church as a spiritual hospital providing a means for acquiring divine power and grace for the healing of diseases of soul and body.&nbsp;Topics include: &nbsp;Jesus Christ as Healer; sin as a disease; the Church as a spiritual hospital; the Spiritual Father as a physician of the soul; and the diagnosis and recommended treatment plan for six common spiritual pathologies - self-love, anger, gluttony, despondency, avarice, and pride. In this series Holy Orthodoxy is revealed for what it is at its heart: a means for acquiring divine power and grace for the healing of our diseases of soul and body, and not a barren ideology.

Theological Lectures covers a wide variety of topics for the Orthodox Christian life. Each lecture series discusses a specific topic over the course of multiple lectures, providing a deep understanding of the topic.

Lecture #3 The Fourth Ecumenical Council in Chalcedon, AD 451

Lecture 1- Jesus Christ the Healer

Digital Audio - A broad introduction to Orthodox Christianity designed to expose the catechumen to the contours of Orthodox faith and life, aid priests in preparing catechumens to be received into the Church as well as edify Orthodox individuals seeking a better understanding of their faith.&nbsp;
For those seeking to become Orthodox, Catechism is a process of full-orbed Christian formation in which the Orthodox Christian life is inculcated in the learner through participation in divine services, prayer, study, community assimilation, and practice. At the heart of the catechetical process are the catechetical lectures delivered to the catechumens by the priest or the catechist.&nbsp; It is toward this goal of providing a usable introduction to Holy Orthodoxy that the sixteen lectures entitled An Orthodox Catechism have been developed by Father Josiah. This series has been utilized by Father Josiah in parish practice over the course of almost two decades to prepare more than 400 catechumens for reception into the Orthodox Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Not having an official Orthodox Catechism in the English language, many parishes and pastors scramble to put together a basic catechism that will adequately expose the inquirer and catechumen to the contours of Orthodox faith and life.&nbsp; It is hoped that this series will aid priests and parishes in preparing catechumens to be received into the Church, as well as edify Orthodox individuals seeking a better understanding of their faith.
These sixteen lectures are presented to catechumens in two parts. Part One: God, Man, Church is traditionally delivered over the eight weeks leading to the Feast of the Nativity of Christ. Part Two: The Holy Mysteries is delivered over the eight weeks leading up to Pasha, when catechumens are being prepared for reception into the Church on Great and Holy Saturday.

Lecture 3 - St. Seraphim and the Mother of God

Bonus Lecture: Father Maximos on the Jesus Prayer

If you desire to understand more deeply the inspired guidance of the Church concerning personal prayer, and want to strengthen your own prayer discipline by learning to more faithfully keep a prayer rule, or kanona, these lectures that explore the discipline of classical Orthodox Christian personal prayer will delight you. These edifying presentations examine the content and order of the prayer rule, giving special emphasis to the prayers of repentance, the rule of prostrations, the giving of thanks, the use of the Jesus Prayer, and spiritual reading.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Prayer Rule

The nature of spiritual direction and eldership in the Church is unfolded through an examination of the lives of influential elders who have served Christ and who are either still living or have reposed in the Lord within the last 50 years. The lives and teaching of these seven great elders from Romania, Greece, England and America are majestic love gifts from the reigning Christ to His Flock on earth, and their radiant witness serves as a clear guide for all who wish to enter into the Kingdom of God.&nbsp;

Contemporary Orthodox Elders

<div>Patristic Nectar is pleased to present a new seven-lecture series by Father Josiah&nbsp;entitled&nbsp;New Saints and Elders: The Miracle of Modern Holiness.&nbsp;The miracle of&nbsp;Pentecost is sustained in every generation of believers, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit is&nbsp;manifest in the budding of saints from the soil of the Church. Each saint is a love-gift&nbsp;from the Lord, a model of discipleship, and a sign-post marking the way to Paradise for&nbsp;all who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Every generation of Christians&nbsp;particularly&nbsp;cherish contemporary saints who have fashioned lives of faithfulness to God in the same&nbsp;context and culture in which they live and move.</div>

In this thought-provoking video, Father Josiah Trenham addresses the claim that Scripture alone is sufficient for Christian faith, without the need for the Church. He examines the dangers of isolating the Bible from Church tradition and teaches why both are essential for a complete and authentic Christian life. Discover why the Church and Scripture must work together to preserve true faith and practice.

Contemporary Saints are particularly important since they acquired their love for God and holiness in the midst of our current milieu, and demonstrate that spiritual acquisition is possible even in our own troubled times.

Lecture 9- Overcoming the Disease of Avarice

Patristic Nectar Publications is pleased to present a new 8 lecture series entitled:&nbsp;The Original Church: Lectures on the Acts of the Apostles&nbsp;by Father Josiah Trenham. Lecture #11 Iconography Regarding the Trinity.

The core character of the ideal Christian wife and her high calling from God in marriage is unveiled. The good wife as help-mate; as soul of the family; as the homemaker, nourisher, and steward; as the lover, domesticator and healing drug; and as faithful friend. This series is helpful for young men and women who are contemplating marriage, the engaged, pastors who need pre-marital counseling material, and husbands and wives who wish to enrich their marriage and establish it as more thoroughly Christian.

Starting Down the Royal Path: How to Become an Orthodox Christian

A presentation of the lives of eight saintly Kings of the first Christian millennium.&nbsp; By the example of these kings Christians are able to gauge what is really valuable in a political leader. Lives of Ss. Constantine the Great, Theodosios I, Justinian the Great, Alfred the Great, Boris of Bulgaria, Vladimir of Kiev, Stephen of Bulgaria, and Edward the Confessor of England are presented. These kings established a model of godly political rule for Christendom, and continue to provide a shining witness of faith in Jesus Christ. In the political realm corruption is so often the norm, but these great kings of the past demonstrate that holiness is possible even in politics.&nbsp;

In this June reflection, Fr. Josiah Trenham challenges the narrative that "diversity is our strength" and critiques the cultural dominance of the LGBT movement in American life. From Pride Month pushback to the renaming of the Harvey Milk Navy ship, this is a call to resist moral compromise and return to Christian foundations.
